Some days you just know you should just pack it in.  This ride started with losing one of my aerobar pads about 3 miles out.  After going back and forth a few times I headed back home to fix the problem.  That was 6 miles thrown away before this ride began.  Restarting later than I wanted too and pissed off over the aerobar pad and getting a bug in my eye I headed out with a vengeance.  And things were great for about the first 25 miles or so.  And then it was time to start looping back and battling a demoralizing steady headwind.  I was having a great ride to that point and knew I was going to lose time/speed on the return.  But this turned into an absolutely brutal slog as I also was getting dehydrated and didn't have enough water with me.  But, I got back on track with a long ride today.  And that was the main goal no matter how bad the result.
