Jackass: Mark R. Downs Jr.

I don't know Mark R. Downs Jr., 27, of Dunbar, PA, but after reading this, I'm pretty sure he's a jackass.  I'm all for competition, and a T-ball coach should be teaching it as well as the basics of (yawn) baseball.  But what's the lesson here?  That's it's okay to whack out a disabled kid if it's going to prevent you from winning?  Nice life lesson Mark.  Like I said: Jackass!

Mark R. Downs, Jr.,  first class jackass!  Who is the one with a disability?

I hope you have a loosing team because of this.  How, better yet,  what are you teaching the team anyway?

This Mark Downes is a real idiot!  For god's sake he's around little kids & he appears to be a great role model! WHAT A LOSER!

My wife works with disabled children and if I ever have a  chance to find this man, and I would travel to find him, I would give him and his family a beating that would remind them not to pick on people that are not in a position to defend themselves.

Uh, radical thought here, let's make sure the bloke is guilty before we excoriate him. If he did this, he deserves some county jail time and community service with the disabled.

This is a very sorry example of the character of this little man "teaching" our children.

And the worse part is that faced with these criminal charges the "League organizers said Downs is not suspended and remains a coach in the league."

Quite a poor way to run a children's "sport" where they should be learning sportsmanship and respect - way to go R.W. Clark Youth Baseball League

I am originally from eastern Ohio/western PA area, and now live on the West Coast.  I just caught wind of this story... and I am mortified.  How can someone be such a sorry ass sonofabitch?  This coach, Mark Downs, is beyond reproach.  My blood is boiling just thinking about the unethical musings that must have wandered through his dull brain before he ordered a player to bean a handicapped kid.

Downs' syndrome is he's an asshole.

I saw a clip of this 27-year-old pric on the news tonight.  Although he was dressed in a suit as he left the courthouse, I bet he just loves to flaunt his feet bare in flip-flops.

I wonder how much the opportunity to take a steel baseball bat to every single one of his spindly toes would go for on the fantasy punishment market.  I bet more than $25.00

However, I think the best punishment would be for this guy to be completely ostracized from his family, peers, no matter where he moves to.  Let it haunt that f***head for the rest of his pathetic, jock-perior life.  And, when it almost over, someone can piss down his miserable throat.

Actually, it's called "due process," and it's what separates this country from the likes of Iraq. The guy hasn't been convicted of any crime; these remain allegations. So, the league is correct in maintaining him until the trial resolves these issues; if you were in a similar situation, you'd demand the same.

Mark R. Downs is a sick bastard.  He's the type who probably suck'd at sports himself as a kid, and is living some "fantasy gone awry" through children.  Sports - within the right perspective - teach some of the most valuable traits that lead to success in life - hard work, teamwork, resolve, healthy competition, preparation......

This guy is EVERYTHING wrong in youth sports rolled into one clown.

My heart goes out to the disabled child and his family.  In fact, to all of the children infected by this bad example.

But the disabled does NOT deserve time with this ignorant monster.

there is alot to be said for due process, but he should have been removed pending resolution of charges.  i for one would not have let one of my children play on a team he was coaching. that being said, i have a 4yo autistic son.  i am terrified when i hear that there are people out there like this loser.  these children don't have what it takes to  understand why people act the way this "man" has.  my hat goes off to the father of the boy who was offered the money for coming forward and doing the right thing.  there need to be more people like him in the world.

Mark Downs, Jr is a sick, evil piece of shit.  I would say that he is an embarassment to humanity, except that no one who did what he did could possibly be human.

It's been rumored that a few weeks before this incident that he beat his girlfriend and cut off all her hair.

For what he did to that autistic boy he should be shot with rubber bullets and bean bags for a few hours... just to get him softened up a little and to know what's coming later.  White-hot needles should then be placed under each of his finger and toenails.

He then should be disemboweled, then drawn & quartered.

Then, the bleeding should be staunched only so that he can remain alive long enough to then be fed to South American Army ants so that they can inflict the coup de grace.  Afterwards, I would love to be there to piss and spit on his grave too.

Here's someone who's clearly not only a dangerous individual, but a scumbag of the highest order -- yet he has two children, and is using this as a reason for claiming that he could never do what he had done to the autistic kid.  Furthermore, he has insinuated himself into local little league as a coach so that he can practice his sickness on many other local area children.

I just have to laugh when so-called "Christians" claim that gay people aren't qualified to be parents, or are even dangerous around kids.  Mark Downs, Jr proves it's the other way around.  At the very least, heterosexual parents should undergo mental testing before being allowed to have or adopt children.

I am a father of a 7 year old Autistic boy, I think Mr. Downs should be tied to a tree and repeatedly thrown baseballs at. the bastard is lucky he does not live near me...

What, exactly, did his family do to deserve a beating?

For those who missed it, Downs was sentenced 1-5 years in prison this week.  I commend the judge and hope Downs has to serve on the 5 side of that sentence.  As the father of an autistic boy who happens to love playing baseball, i crigned when this story surfaced, and my heart breaks for the innocent boy involved (and his parents).  Downs is the worst kind of person and let's all hope this sentence prevents similar problems in the future.
