Jesus Sold Here!

So I've lived two doors down from this church in North Tonawanda for the last 25 years. And every time I see this neon cross all I can think of is the equivalent of a convenience store sign. Thus, "Jesus Sold Here". They've always been good neighbors, but that doesn't change the thought. And while I understand they are scraping by, the title seems appropriate for a lot of churches these days. "Tithe for salvation while I buy another fancy car to park in front of my luxury home."

Area 51 relocated!

I see there's been a lot of talk about former president Obama saying he believes there are aliens out there. And I agree it seems pretty likely, but they are probably far more advanced than us and surely will stay away from our destructive ways. In any case, in this morning's paper here in Buffalo (Yes, I'm old and still read the local paper, although online now.) there's a syndicated article from the Chicago Tribune covering Obama's remarks during a recent podcast interview.

I'm unable to find the same syndicated article anywhere and related articles are largely behind those delightful paywalls. But in the version in my paper I found this nugget:

During the podcast, Obama hastened to add that Area 51, the part of New Mexico that the conspiracists for years have claimed is home to an underground bunker with alien remains and such, isn't a thing — "unless there is an enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States."

Hmmm....perhaps the aliens are already here as that's the only way I can fathom that Area 51 has moved from Nevada to New Mexico! I will explore this come summer as I will be in New Mexico so perhaps I can locate it's new location.

So it's a new year and a chance for new opportunities. Perhaps you have an original idea as to what you want to try on for size. In this case you need to wonder about #9, A corn cob holder. WTF! What would ever compel you to think, "Hey I bet this would be gratifying!" 🤣🤦 Me? I'm sticking with what I know best and has long been my specialty, I choose my head. I have lots of experience in this department and it's in my comfort zone at this point! What exactly are people thinking when they embark on this adventure? Darwin would surely be shaking his head. Oh, that seems intriguing...

Trump wins the Peace Prize!

Well, Donald Trump finally got his wish and won the Peace Prize! (Fox link so everyone knows it's not "fake news".) That's right, he won the FIFA inaugural Peace Prize. Handed to Trump from a big Trump fanboy. (Not a Fox link so obvious fake news.) Hopefully the shiny GOLD metal and big GOLD trophy makes him feel like the giant man-child he is. Nothing says "success" like one of your friends stroking your fragile ego with a made up award that hopefully and comically will never be awarded again. Although Dear Leader will (unfortunately) still be in office for another 3 years, perhaps it will be awarded again to the self-proclaimed "Greatest President EVAR!!!" I'll wait for history to weigh in, but if I were a betting man I'd put my money on him being much closer to the other end of the spectrum. As they say, time will tell.
