Quite the adventure today! Dragged myself out of bed and as I went to get my bike I remembered I hadn't changed the battery in my cyclocomputer. Not to be deterred I managed to do that and get it reconfigured in about 5 minutes.
A nice morning although some spotty fog that actually was worse coming back, but not the scary dangerous sort. This was a very good ride today even with all the nonsense below.
I spooked a bird in the road again, this time on Meahl Rd. This time it came up and scared the crap out of me from my left. I ducked and it turned and brush up and over my rib cage. Then later, don't recall where another wildlife adventure as I almost hit a skunk crossing the road. That was certainly a fortunate miss.
And prior to this they have now closed Townline Rd. from Bull Creek to Beach Ridge until December. I knew it couldn't be completely closed because of all the houses. Thus I opted to ride up to the roadblock, ignored the do no enter sign and went around and went on my way up to Beach Ridge without seeing a single car. This section desperately needs to be rebuilt so this is good news in the bigger picture. This was fine until on my return route I found they have only actually closed the Northbound lane and are routing traffic into the Southbound lane! So my carefree jaunt up this "closed" road was actually riding into head-on traffic. At 4:30am in the dark. Hmmm...yeah, we probably shouldn't do that again. Live and learn! |
