Wow, just wow. This was just a good old fashion ass kicking today. Hot and windy. Did I mention hot? As the weather data show, it was indeed. And with the heat radiating up from the pavement, it was pretty well above 100° the whole time. I haven't ridden on a day like this in a long time, but I was due and needed too. But the last 10 miles were really a struggle. Even before that I wasn't riding well, but then the suffering started, but I did it. Slowly, but I did it. The only way to get better at riding on days like today is to go out and ride on days like today.
Oh, and the wind out of the South, down the escarpment it as actually a stiff on shore breeze from Lake Ontario. So lots of riding into and crosswinds all day. One positive, it took the road temperature down from 105° to the mid 90's. That actually was a big improvement even if it did shoot back up on the way home. |
